EU CPR - Digital Product Passports

EU CPR - Digital Product Passports

This briefing paper, produced by the CPA’s Technical Team, provides an overview of Digital Product Passports, which were proposed in The EU CPR 2024. A digital product passport (DPP) is a means for the electronic storage of product-specific related information as a mandatory legal requirement for CE marking in accordance with the new EU-CPR 2024. It will accompany a product on its journey consolidating data from material sourcing and extraction through to its end-of-life recycling.

Passports will be required for all construction products subject to a harmonised European standard. It goes beyond the scope of a product’s Declaration of Performance and Conformity. This requirement will have implications for UK manufacturers wishing to place construction products on the EU market (including Northern Ireland) and GB market.
